Belarusian farmsteads have a chance to get ECEAT ecolable

Belarusian Association “Country Escape” started to promote European ecolables in Belarus. We are the members of ECEAT (European Centre for Eco- and Agrotourism). One of ECEAT fields of activities is development and introduction of the quality standards and ecocertification for farmsteads. ECEAT ecolabel tell tourists that the farmstead provides high quality service, environmental friendliness. For the farmstead it is a possibility to enter new segment – “green” European tourists and a new generation of tourists in Belarus. Moreover ECEAT ecolabel gives a chance to be present on ECEAT web-sites, and have ECEAT ecolabel in new catalogues. The procedure in Belarus is the following: farmstead owner should contact “Country Escape” Association, fill in a questionnaire, send it to the office where it will be analyzed and afterwards the inspectors will contact the owner. Around 50 farmsteads have already filled in the questionnaires. On the 20th of October 2010 the first inspection of farmsteads took place. The inspection was guided by the Head of ECEAT Germany Matthias Baerens who shared his experience in the field. The pioneer farmsteads for inspection were “Gulenkovo” and “Damelka”. The results of the inspection can be considered positive: inspectors highly evaluated the farmsteads and their owners’ attitude to nature. After some small corrections they will receive ECEAT certificates.
